SHITTY CALL

Shitty Call — a work that critically reconsiders the language of protest and its actual powerlessness.
At the center of the composition is the phrase “No war / Ні війні,” rendered as a visual gesture that refers to the mass protests and public statements of the first months of the full-scale war in Ukraine. The work captures the moment when these words lost their effectiveness, turning into an empty symbol.
The artist engages with this phrase as a form devoid of meaning: the call exists, but produces no consequences. In this sense, Shitty Call is a direct statement about the gap between declaration and action — between what is proclaimed and what is actually capable of changing the situation.
The use of pigeon droppings as a material reinforces this position, literally devaluing the gesture of the inscription itself. The work suggests that words without action carry no weight — they dissolve, lose meaning, and cease to function.
This is not a statement about hope, but about disappointment, in which the language of protest no longer fulfills its function.
