This is an intimate, almost pocket-sized object that functions as a microcosm of time — a compact mechanism of memory. The work takes the form of a clock, where traditional numbers are replaced by pigeons, each acting as a marker of time with its own role and presence, as if they were living witnesses rather than abstract units.

In daylight, the composition reads as an ironic urban scene: an ordinary pigeon sits alongside a “glamorous” pigeon wearing sunglasses and a cap, a couple of pigeons suggest interaction and repetition, and another simple pigeon appears as a neutral observer. This is not about perfect temporal symmetry, but about the social nature of time itself — time as an environment where difference coexists within a shared circular structure.

Under UV light, the work shifts into another state, almost like a nocturnal version of memory. Elements emerge differently, as if reality changes its focus, and the same characters become more symbolic, less literal. The clock transforms into a perceptual device: what we see when the usual logic of time is suspended.

In its nighttime state, the object fully abandons its function of measurement and becomes a small field of light — like a private planetary system where pigeons move not according to hours, but according to moods.

Valera Through Time operates simultaneously as a joke and a structure: a clock that does not measure time, but reveals how differently time can appear depending on light, context, and the way it is observed.

This is a three-layer artwork with a shifting visual identity depending on the lighting conditions. In daylight, the piece reveals one composition; under ultraviolet light, it transforms into a second image; and in nighttime lighting, it reveals a third distinct visual layer.

 The work is presented in a handmade custom frame crafted from ash wood, plastered and finished with a pronounced surface texture. Inside, an integrated UV light strip enhances the transformation effect and activates the hidden layers of the composition.
